Family Weekend 2018 will take place September 21-23. Events begin Friday afternoon and run through approximately noon on Sunday.
Parents registered to our parent mailing list will be notified of the date and time in which event registration will open, and families of incoming Freshmen and Sophomores receive a postcard in the mail in July with the dates for registration. The general Family Weekend webpage will be updated with a link to the event registration website.
A variety of events are planned for Family Weekend some offer free admission, while others require a fee and/or advanced registration. Through the Family Weekend event registration system, weekend packages and tickets will be sold for the following items:

- Football Game vs. Georgia
- Family Weekend Climb
- Trivia Night
- Sunday Breakfast
- Family Weekend T-shirt (2017 design included below)

Please note that student admission is NOT included free of charge to these events. If you would like your student to attend with you, you must purchase a ticket for them as well. The only exceptions are students with a dining plan (Pre-Game Meal) and/or a season pass for football (Game vs. Georgia).
The Office of Parent Relations is able to obtain a limited number of football tickets for the family weekend game. The price for individual tickets in 2017 for the MU vs. Purdue game was $65. Please note that this price changes every year, and is likely to increase in 2018 due to demand. They can be purchased individually or in packages. Our price is a discount off of the face value of the tickets and a reduction in processing fees if purchased through MU Athletics directly. The Office of Parent Relations also receives a group discount for purchasing these tickets for families in bulk, so the price listed on the ticket will reflect that group price. Revenue generated from Family Weekend supports the continuation of the Office of Parent Relations including hosting Family Weekend each year.
We now offer a limited number of two different package options, the Gold Standard Full Weekend Package and Game Day Package. These include tickets to various events and exclusive access to some Family Weekend merchandise. More details on what is included and pricing for packages is available on the packages page.
Please note that MU student tickets are valid for the reserved student section only, which is separate from where Family Weekend participants will be seated. If your family would like to sit together for the game, then you will need to purchase a Family Weekend football ticket for each member of your family. However, it is very typical for parents and students to enjoy the pre-game meal and other activities together and then meet up after the game.
Tickets for the football game are typically located in the upper deck seats located within Memorial Stadium. In previous years, the majority of Family Weekend tickets were located in the following sections of the stadium: all 300 level sections, AA, BB, SS, TT, and similar sections. You can find the location of these sections online by visiting Mizzou Game Day or our maps page. The Office of Parent Relations will be unable to provide your seat location prior to check-in. Therefore, if you would like to select a premium seat, or guarantee your seat location then we recommend that you purchase your tickets through Athletics at the full rate. You can contact the Athletics Ticket Office Office when tickets become available. Individual game ticket sales begin over the summer through Mizzou Athletics and a link to the official ticket re-seller is available through www.mutigers.com/tickets.
Tickets will be distributed at Family Weekend Check-in on Friday and Saturday. Any football tickets not picked up by the time check-in closes on Saturday will be taken to the Will Call window at the football stadium. Tickets will not be mailed.
There are a number of events over the course of Family Weekend. Most parents arrive on Friday and stay until Sunday. The majority of events are held on Friday and Saturday, and most parents spend breakfast and lunch with their student on Sunday before going home.
If you are looking to make a hotel reservation we suggest that you contact the Columbia Convention Center and Visitors Bureau at 800-652-0987 to inquire about availability in Columbia. If there are no rooms available in Columbia our next best recommendation is to seek hotels in Kingdom City, Jefferson City, and Booneville as each are within 30 minutes of drive time. Alternatively, there are bed in breakfast options available in Rocheport which is about 15 minutes west of Columbia. See our hotels page for more information.
Yes! Our staff work with campus colleagues to provide a well-rounded schedule of events with “something for everyone.” Mizzou on the Mall has music, ice cream and activities for all ages and the pre-game meal allows family members to sample what their student eats everyday. These are just a few examples of the fun things we have planned!
This fee was put in place to help cover bank and credit card processing fees but does not offset the cost entirely.
